Printing high quality labels is a part of managing supply chain functions such as manufacturing, warehousing, and distribution. But how do you know which label printing and design software is right for you?

1 Select labels first.

After determining your label requirements, it will be easy to identify the right barcode printer. For example, thermal transfer labels work best for fixed assets that are frequently handled and cleaned. Therefore, you would want to purchase a printer that produces these types of labels.

4 Buy a barcode scanner or mobile computer.

As with labels and printers, you must identify your requirements before selecting a scanning device. For example, do you need to scan images from far away? Are you using 2D or linear image barcodes? Or will you scan items stored in a sub-zero freezer?
