Monochrome ID card printers utilize a mass transfer printing technology, using resin-coated film, for machine readable text and barcodes (usually in black). Monochrome ID card printers are available as single-sided or dual-sided printers and could print at 203 or 300 dpi print resolution. Some have the option of encoding magstripe cards or smart cards.
