Wasp Barcode Technologies Releases MobileAsset v6

Wasp Barcode Technologies just released MobileAsset v6, the latest version of their asset tracking software. There are a number of new features and some changes in functionality. The check-in/out process was improved a great deal in MobileAsset v6. When specifying the checkout length for an item, you can set hours and minutes, not just days. This is good for items that you don't want to loan out for very long, such as an expensive tool that must be shared among several employees. If an item is going to be assigned to an employee for the length of his/her employment, like a laptop, you can now check-out that item with no due date. You can also transfer a checked-out asset to another user without having to check it back in first. So when that employee's laptop crashes and needs to go into the IT repair department, you can quickly move it over in MobileAsset. A lead time can be added to an asset that shows how much time is required between receiving the asset back in and when it can be checked out again. That time could be needed for calibration, cleaning, sterilization, etc. Wasp has also improved the asset maintenance feature in MobileAsset v6. An asset can now have multiple maintenance schedules assigned simultaneously. For example, a company vehicle could have an oil change scheduled every two months and a tire rotation scheduled every four months. You can also record the cost of maintenance on assets and run reports on it. The Enterprise edition of MobileAsset v6 can track assets in multiple locations or organizations, each with its own secure database. Users can be given access to all the locations in MobileAsset or be limited to just one location. MobileAsset Enterprise now comes with a Microsoft SQL Express Database, like the Standard and Pro editions, although it is still recommended that you use a full version of Microsoft SQL Server. Some of the other new features of MobileAsset v6 are the ability to mass update a specified group of assets, role-based security while still preserving the ability to change individual user's access, adding hyperlinks to assets, and printing from lists without needing to open Labeler, the included label printing module. Along with MobileAsset v6, Wasp also released the new WPA1000 mobile computer. It is a lightweight, rugged mobile computer designed to excel in asset tracking applications. Use the WPA1000 to check assets in or out, perform audits in the field, and move, add, or remove assets. Then sync back to your PC with the USB communication cable to instantly update the database.
