Radio Frequency Identification Readers
RFID readers are devices designed to periodically emit an RF signal at a given frequency to communicate with an RFID tag. The tag then responds and transmis its data the RFID reader. The reader then translates the tag data into events that are understandable by the middleware component of the RFID system.
There are 2 primary reader types, Portal (stationary RFID readers) and Handheld (portable RFID readers). A multi-protocol reader is capable of handling two or more communication protocols. A multi-frequency reader is able to transmit and receive radio signals at two or more frequencies.
